What changed

  1. October 13, 2026

    • Section 12: where our liability cannot be excluded, it is now limited to the greater of CA$100 and what you have paid us in the 12 months before a claim. Until now, while Homedrawer is free, that limit was nil.

  2. October 13, 2026

    • Homedrawer is out of beta. The Terms no longer say it is free “while it is in beta”: it is free, and the promise stands that if anything that is free now becomes part of a paid plan, you hear about it at least 30 days before, and keep free access to what you have stored, to your export and to deleting your account.
    • The Terms, the Privacy Policy and the Cookie Policy are now published in French as well. Both versions are equally valid, and where they differ, the one more favourable to you applies.

    • The Terms of Service were rewritten for launch. They now say plainly that Homedrawer is not a warranty, insurance or advice; that dates can be estimates and reminders or recall alerts can be late or missed; and that renewing insurance and registration, claiming warranties and acting on recalls stay your responsibility.
    • The Terms now also cover the iPhone app, your household’s email address, calendar and invitation links, household roles as they work today, what stays with a household when you leave it, the other services Homedrawer relies on, a promise to cover our costs only if someone claims against us because of something you had no right to upload, and the usual closing terms.
    • A change to the Terms or the Privacy Policy that takes away a right, adds a duty or changes how your information is handled now comes with 30 days’ notice by email, up from 14 days for the Terms alone.
    • The Privacy Policy now lists everything we collect and every service involved, including the relay that carries our email, Google’s and Apple’s parts and your calendar app. It says the servers that run Homedrawer are in Montréal, beside the database, and gives the real retention: database backups 30 days, copies of deleted files gone from backups within 60 days, error reports 30 days, and the record of an email nobody approved 30 days.
    • The Cookie Policy now describes Google Analytics as it is set up — a random ID in a cookie, with Google signals and ad personalisation off — and says that signing out removes this browser’s push subscription and its offline copies of your pages.
    • Applied on publication: at publication the only account holders were the operator’s own accounts, so there was nobody outside the company to give notice to.

Material changes are emailed to every account holder, with the notice the Terms promise.

These terms are the agreement between you and Ryan Murrell, a sole proprietor carrying on business in Alberta, Canada under the registered trade name FNDRY39 WEB DESIGN (Alberta trade name registration TN27072784) (“FNDRY39”, “we”) for using Homedrawer. “Homedrawer” means the website at homedrawer.com, the Homedrawer iPhone app, and the emails, notifications, calendar link and household email address that come with them; a “home” in the app is a household here. By creating an account — with an email address, Google or Apple, on the website or in the app — you accept these terms. Everyone who joins a household accepts them for themselves.

1. What Homedrawer is, and what it is not

Homedrawer is a tool for recording what you own and the paperwork that goes with it — warranties, insurance, a vehicle’s registration, maintenance, chores, manuals and documents — and for reminding you about them. It helps you remember; it does not replace the paperwork. It is not a warranty, insurance, a guarantee of anything about your belongings, or professional, insurance or legal advice.

  • Dates may not be exact. They come from what you type, from typical values we suggest (a warranty’s usual length, a renewal a year out), from an estimate based on a vehicle’s readings, or from a photo or email our automated reader filled in. Check them against the real warranty, policy or registration.
  • Reminders and alerts can be late, land in spam or not arrive. You remain responsible for renewing insurance and registration, claiming under warranties, acting on recalls and keeping up maintenance, whether or not we reminded you.
  • Recall alerts are a match, not a verdict. Every day, and when an item is saved, we compare its brand and model, or a vehicle’s make, model and year (never its VIN), with official recall lists. A match may not be your unit, and a recall can be missed or arrive late. Check the official notice, and a vehicle’s VIN with its maker or Transport Canada.
  • Suggested maintenance is general guidance, not advice for your specific product. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions, and use a qualified person for gas, electrical and safety work and wherever the manufacturer or the law says to.
  • Labels show what your household recorded. “Insured”, a premium or a registration is what someone entered; we do not check with your insurer, warranty provider or registry.

2. Your account

You must be at least 16 and give accurate information. Younger people can be named on a chore, but cannot hold an account. Keep your password, your passkeys, the Google or Apple account you sign in with, and your email inbox (sign-in links are sent there) private and secure; you are responsible for activity under your account. If you sign in only with Google or Apple, add a password or a passkey so that losing that account does not lose Homedrawer. Tell us promptly at hello@homedrawer.com if you believe your account has been compromised. You can end every session from Settings.

3. Households and roles

A household has one owner and up to five other people, six in all. Anyone in a household can invite people; someone a member invites joins once an admin approves. Admins can edit or delete anything in the household and approve, remove or promote members. The owner can also remove admins, transfer ownership, and delete the household with everything everyone added. Everyone in a household sees its items, documents, chores and maintenance; admins also see its activity log. Invite only people you trust with that information. We do not settle disagreements between members, or give a household’s records to anyone outside it unless the law requires.

4. Your content

What you enter or upload stays yours. In a household, what you add becomes part of its record: it stays with the household if you leave or delete your account, and the owner can delete it with the household — keep your own copies of anything you would need. You give us only the licence we need to store, display, back up and process it to run Homedrawer for you and your household: sending reminders, reading a photo or an email you send to be read, and using an item’s brand and model — never anything that identifies you — to find manuals every household can use. If you send us feedback, we may use it freely. Upload or enter only what you have the right to, including other people’s details; do not upload anything illegal, malicious or infringing. File types and sizes are limited (currently PDF and common image formats up to 20 MB).

5. Other services

Homedrawer relies on other services: Google and Apple sign-in, the App Store and Apple’s push service, the calendar app you add your calendar link to, official recall lists, the US NHTSA’s VIN decoder, Anthropic’s automated reader, and manufacturers’ websites. Their own terms apply to them, and we are not responsible for what they do or fail to deliver.

For an item with a brand and a model, Homedrawer may show a link to the manual as the manufacturer publishes it on its own website. We do not host, copy or alter manufacturers’ manuals: the link opens their site, and their terms and privacy policy apply there. We check that a link points at what the manufacturer publishes for that model, and other households confirm it, but we cannot promise the page or file is current, complete or right for your exact unit — compare the model on your rating plate with the manual’s cover, and follow the manual’s own safety warnings. If a link is wrong or dead, tell us with the button beside it. If you hold the rights to a document and would rather we did not link to it, email hello@homedrawer.com and we will remove the link.

6. Your household’s email address

Your household’s address files what is sent to it; it is not a mailbox. Mail can be refused — too large, carrying a virus, or one too many in a day. An email from a sender the household has not approved waits for a member and is deleted after seven days if nobody does. Mail to an address you have paused or replaced is not received. Keep the original of anything that matters. Forward only receipts and paperwork for your own household’s things, never other people’s mail. If an admin lets anyone send to the address, the household is responsible for what it approves.

7. Links you share

Your calendar link and an invitation link work for anyone who has them. Keep them to the people they are meant for. If your calendar link gets out, make a new one in Settings → Reminders and the old one stops at once.

8. Acceptable use

Do not use Homedrawer to break the law, to attack or probe the service, to access another household’s data, to send spam, or to store content that is abusive or that you do not have the right to store. Do not scrape, reverse-engineer or resell the service. We may suspend accounts that put other users or the service at risk.

9. Price

Homedrawer is free. Some things that are free now, such as the household email address, may become part of a paid plan; we will tell you at least 30 days before, and you keep free access to what you have stored, to export, and to deleting your account.

10. Privacy

How we handle personal information is explained in the Privacy Policy, and what we store on your device in the Cookie Policy.

11. Availability and changes to the service

We aim for Homedrawer to be available at all times but do not guarantee it, and we may change, pause or discontinue features. If we ever discontinue the service, we will give at least 60 days’ notice, keep the export working until the end, and give you a way to download your documents.

12. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Homedrawer is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses — including a missed warranty claim, a missed maintenance task, a lapsed insurance policy or registration, a recall we did not match or tell you about, a detail misread from a photo or an email, damage to property, loss of data, or a loss caused by another member of your household or by information from manufacturers, recall agencies or other services. Please keep your own copies of important documents. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of CA$100 and the amount you have paid us for Homedrawer in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not let us limit, and consumer protection rights that cannot be waived are not affected.

13. If someone claims against us because of you

If someone makes a claim against us because of content you uploaded or forwarded without the right to, or details about another person you entered without their permission, you will cover our reasonable costs of it, to the extent the law allows.

14. Ending the agreement

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. We can end the agreement on notice if you break these terms, or if we discontinue the service (section 11). Sections 4 (for content that stays in a shared household), 12, 13, 15 and 18 survive.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable there. Disputes go to the courts of Alberta, except that consumers may bring claims in their home jurisdiction where the law gives them that right. We will always try to resolve problems by email first.

16. The iPhone app

If you download Homedrawer from the App Store, Apple’s standard licence for apps covers the app itself; these terms cover the Homedrawer service you use through it. Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for Homedrawer, its content or its support — those are ours.

17. Changes to these terms

For a change that takes away a right or adds a duty, we will email every account holder and post it here at least 30 days before it applies, and you can delete your account before then. A change needed sooner for a legal or security reason, or that only describes something new or corrects a mistake, applies when it is posted, and we will say why. Continuing to use Homedrawer after a change applies is acceptance.

18. General

These terms, with the Privacy and Cookie Policies, are the whole agreement between us about Homedrawer. They are published in English and in French; both versions are equally valid, and where they differ, the one more favourable to you applies. If any part is unenforceable, the rest stands. Not enforcing something straight away does not mean we cannot later. We may transfer this agreement to a company that takes over Homedrawer; we will tell you, and your rights will not shrink. We are not responsible for a failure caused by something outside our reasonable control, such as an outage at a provider we rely on.
